Program overview

The Academy Series offers ski and snowboard instruction for teenagers and adults aged 12 and up, from complete beginners to students developing their skills. Instructors plan sessions around each student’s current ability, learning goals and condition on the day, helping them gradually build safe, consistent skiing or riding skills.

The series focuses on technical learning, with a choice of private sessions or group sessions led by one instructor. Children under 12 take part in the Kids Master Program.

Session structure & booking rules

The standard session and booking unit is two hours for both private and group sessions. In a group session, the two hours are the shared session time for the whole group.

Private sessions

1:1

Private sessions: One instructor teaches one student, adapting the pace to the student’s goals, progress and stamina.

Group sessions

1:2–1:8

Group sessions: One instructor teaches two or more students, organising practice around shared learning goals and providing individual feedback. Class size limits are shown in the table below.

Teaching philosophy

Safety, trust, enjoyment and joy are at the heart of TXSNOW’s teaching philosophy. With the student at the centre, instructors bring people skills, teaching skills and technical skills together to create a safe, trusting environment where students enjoy learning and want to return. For the full teaching philosophy, see:

Grouping & teaching arrangements

Grouping requirements

  • All students in a group must be at least 12 years old, learn the same discipline and have similar ability levels and learning goals.
  • Skiing and snowboarding groups are separate.
  • Friends or family members wishing to take a session together should first confirm that they can learn at a similar pace.

Teaching arrangements

  • Each session should have clear, observable learning goals.
  • Instructors help students understand movements through explanations, demonstrations, practice and feedback.
  • In a group session, they must organise shared practice while observing and responding to each student’s specific needs.
